Dr. Lakshmi Lingam is the Dean and Professor of TISS's School of Media and Cultural Studies. She is a well-known gender specialist who serves on the Curriculum Advisory Boards, Executive Committees, and Academic Councils of several Indian Universities, as well as Technical and Ethical Advisory Boards and Internal Complaints Committees of academic, GO and NGOs. She was also the General Secretary of the Indian Association for Women Studies and a member of the Government of India's National Resource Group for the Mahila Samakhya program for women's empowerment under the Ministry of HRD.
