Varun Gupta is a photographer, serial entrepreneur, and advocate for analogue and alternative photographic practices. With over two decades of experience in the medium, he co-founded the Chennai Photo Biennale and the CPB Foundation—a nonprofit dedicated to expanding the photographic community across India and South Asia. Under his leadership as Managing Trustee and Biennale Director, CPB has launched India’s first community darkroom (the CPB Lighthouse) and run impactful public-engagement projects across cities. He also collaborates with international organizations like Photo Australia and Belfast Photo Festival, while continuing his personal experimentation in printmaking and darkroom work.
